This week we will be having Dr. Ali Shefizadeh, MD, MPP, FACHE.

Fall Week 7 General Meeting

Hey Bruins!

This week at our meeting we will be having a guest speaker, Dr. Mills! Dr. Mills is a Urologist and he works at Ronald Regan hospital. If this is something that you or any of your friends would be interested in then we HIGHLY recommend you to come this week and ask questions! Don’t miss this great opportunity to learn more about Urology.

Hopefully, by now most of you have met with your mentees/mentors. If not, we think it would be really great if you met soon to discuss things such as planning a schedule for next quarter. As usual, we recommend for you all to meet at our meeting on Thursday!

Fall Week 6 General Meeting

Hey Bruins !!

This week we will be having yet another guest speaker, Dr. Aldrovandi. Dr.Aldrovandi is a pediatrician that works at the UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital. If you are interested in pediatrics then you should definitely come out and learn more about Dr. Aldrovandi’s journey! Please come prepared with any questions you may have.

Also, by now everyone should have been assigned their mentors/mentees. We STRONGLY recommend that you get in contact with each other and set up a time to meet and get to know each other. An easy way to do this would be to meet up at our weekly meeting on Thursday. 🙂

1. This week we will be having guest speaker, Dr. Lee. She is a geriatric doctor at VA greater LA hospital. She will be doing a very interactive presentation so please please please come with any questions that you may have.

This week we will be having a representative from Kaplan to speak about the journey to the MCAT + MCAT services offered by Kaplan. Please come out to get a lot of information and come with any questions that you may also have about the MCAT!!

ALSO,

We are excited to announce that we will be starting up our mentorship program again this year!!
We will pair you with a mentor based on your answers from the application. Depending on how many mentors apply, it will be about 1 mentor to 2 or 3 mentees.

Fall Week 2 General Meeting

Hey Bruins,

I hope everyone made it through week 1!

This week we will be having our first guest speaker of the year, Aram Namavar. Aram is a former president and advisor of PPA  and a current 4th-year medical student entering into internal medicine. He will be speaking about his medical journey in addition to giving us any tips/advice that he can! So with that being said, come with any questions that you may have for him or anything about the pre-med journey!!!

This week’s meeting will be in a different room and time. We will still have the meeting on Thursday however, the new meeting time is 6-6:50 pm and it will be taking place at CHS 13-105.

If you do not know where this is located, meet us in front of Young Hall by the steps at 5:40 pm.

We hope to see everyone there to take advantage of this great opportunity to learn from someone who was once a part of PPA!!

Fall Week 1 General Meeting

Hello Bruins!!

Welcome back, we hope you all had a great summer!!

We are so excited to see everyone again, as well as to meet everyone who is new.
We have many exciting meetings and opportunities for everyone this year!!

1. Care Extenders: As a volunteer, you are placed behind-the-scenes of the Ronald Reagan Medical Center and/or the Santa Monica Hospital, in which you have the opportunity to shadow doctors, nurses, and care partners, as well as observe medical procedures ranging from general caretaking to IV line management to even live births or surgeries! If you’re interested, please visit uclahealth.org/careextender for more information and to sign-up for the next upcoming rotation.

2. Emergency Medicine Reseach Associates offers you with on-going clinical research at UCLA’s Ronald Reagan Medical Center. With studies spanning emergency medicine, trauma/surgery, and medical/critical care, their program offers exposure to a multitude of specialties and allows members to better understand the role of research in medicine. Spring Week 9 General Meeting

Hey everyone!

This year we will be having no more meetings. *sad face*

We hope that everyone enjoyed all the meetings, speakers, and opportunities that we provided! Next year we hope to continue to bring lots of more exciting things for you guys!

Spring Week 8 General Meeting

Hey Bruins!!

Happy week 8 !

To relieve some stress this week, we have decided to have a social at Yogurtland!

It will take place this Thursday and we will be meeting at the Bruin bear at 5 pm.
Come out and get to know some other people in PPA and enjoy a little break from studying!
